What is Fucibet Cream?
Fucibet Cream contains 2 active ingredients fusidic acid, an antibiotic and betamethasone, a corticosteroid type of medication. The medication works by killing and preventing the reproduction of bacteria that cause infections and reducing any swelling, redness or itchiness of the skin. The cream is generally prescribed to treat eczema or dermatitis when the skin has been infected by bacteria.
How is Fucibet Cream used?
Fucibet Cream is usually applied topically 1 to 2 times per day for up to 2 weeks or as advised by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the medication, make sure to wash and dry your hands and the affected area. Gently spread a thin layer of the cream on the affected area and gently massage it in. Remember to wash your hands as soon as possible after using the cream.
Adverse effects
Patients using Fucibet Cream may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Worsening of eczema
- Stinging, redness, burning or itching at application site
- Difficulty breathing
- Thinning of the skin
- Stretch marks
- Skin discoloration
- Inflammation of hair follicles
- Small veins near surface of the skin become visible
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Fucibet Cream is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
