What is Furosemido?
Furosemido can be used to help the kidneys get rid of excess salt and water from the body by passing it through urine. The active ingredient furosemide is considered a water pill or loop diuretic type of medication. It can help reduce fluid retention and swelling in the body caused by various conditions such as kidney disorders, liver disease or congestive heart failure. Some people may also use the medication to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and decrease the risk of strokes or heart attacks.
How is Furosemido used?
Furosemido should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually 1 to 2 times daily. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with some water. Contact a doctor for the correct length of treatment and dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. To prevent having to wake up in the night to urinate, it is recommended to take the medication at least 4 hours prior to bedtime.
