What is Gastro-Soothe?
Gastro-Soothe containing the active ingredient hyoscine butylbromide is considered an antispasmodic type of medication. The medication helps relieve cramps and spasms of the stomach, intestines, bladder or the gastro intestinal tract by relaxing the muscles in the walls of these areas. It is mainly used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or diverticular disease.
How is Gastro-Soothe used?
Gastro-Soothe is usually taken 3 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. The tablets should be taken whole and not broken, crushed or chewed.
Adverse effects
Patients using Gastro-Soothe may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Constipation
- Blurred vision
- Dry mouth
- Difficulty passing urine
- Increased heart rate
- Small blisters on hands and feet

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Gastro-Soothe is not always suitable for all patients.
