What is Gopten?
Gopten can be used alone or with other medication to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients. The active ingredient trandolapril belongs to a group of medicine called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels to allow for easier blood flow and letting the heart pump blood more efficiently. Lowering high blood pressure can help prevent heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems. Patients with a history of heart failure may also use the medication to improve survival after a heart attack.
How is Gopten used?
Gopten should be taken once or twice daily with or without food, as directed by a doctor. Dosage and length of treatment will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's reaction to the medication, contact a doctor for the correct dosage. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not crushed, cut or chewed to prevent too much of the medication from being released at one time. Do not discontinue the medication without contacting a doctor, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure generally has no visible symptoms. The medication can be used to treat hypertension but cannot be used as a cure for the condition.
