Losec works by decreasing the amount of acid being produced in the stomach. It can help relieve symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing and persistent coughing caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. The capsules can also be used to promote healing of the stomach or intestine caused by ulcers.

Omez containing the active ingredient omeprazole is considered a proton pump inhibitors (PPI) type of medication. The main function of the medicine is to decrease the production of acid in the stomach. It can be used to treat a condition where backward flow of excess acid from the stomach causes heartburn and possible injury of the esophagus called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Decreasing the amount of acid produced can also promote faster healing of ulcers, erosive esophagitis and treat other conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Apo-Cimetidine works by preventing an excessive amount of stomach acid from being produced. It can be used to prevent and treat stomach and intestine ulcers caused by too much stomach acid (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome). Some people may also use it in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus and causes heartburn.

Arrow-Ranitidine containing the active ingredient ranitidine hydrochloride works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. The medication is used to treat stomach ulcers, a condition where backwards flow of acid causes heartburn and injury of the esophagus known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the condition where the stomach produces too much acid called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
