What is Inderal-40?
Inderal containing the active ingredient propranolol is considered a beta blocker type of medication. The medication works by blocking the action of certain natural substances in the body to relax blood vessels and slow heart rate which can help improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure. It can be used to treat or prevent a variety of conditions such as high blood pressure (hypertension), heart rhythm disorders, tremors, anxiety, chest pain (angina), migraines and help increase the chance for survival after a heart attack.
How is Inderal-40 used?
Inderal is usually taken orally 2 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken prior to a meal along with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor as it may take up to several weeks before the full benefits of the drug are felt.
Adverse effects
Patients using Inderal may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Fatigue
- Upset stomach
- Cold hands or feet

- Vision problems

- Insomnia
- Swollen ankles or feet
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Sudden or unexplained weight gain
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Inderal-40 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
