What is Irovel 150?
Irovel containing the active ingredient irbesartan belongs to a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. The medication works by preventing the action of certain natural substances that tightens blood vessels so blood can flow more smoothly and allow the heart to pump more efficiently. The tablets can be taken alone or along with other medicine to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) which helps prevent heart attacks and strokes. Patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes may also use the drug to treat kidney diseases caused by diabetes and high blood pressure.
How is Irovel 150 used?
Irovel is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure usually has no visible symptoms.
Adverse effects
Patients using Irovel may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Excessive fatigue
- Fainting
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Unusual change in the amount of urine
- High potassium blood levels

- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Joint or muscle pain
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Irovel 150 is not always suitable for all patients.
