What is IROVEL 300?
Irovel works by preventing the action of certain natural substances in the body to relax the blood vessels which will allow blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. The active ingredient irbesartan is considered an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. The tablets are mainly prescribed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) which can help prevent strokes and heart attacks. Patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes may also use the medication to treat kidney problems associated with high blood pressure and diabetes.
How is IROVEL 300 used?
Irovel should only be used as directed by a doctor, usually once daily. The medication should be taken with a glass of water but can be taken with or without food. Dosage and time frame of treatment will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy, contact a doctor for the correct dosage. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure usually has no visible symptoms.
Adverse effects
Irovel may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Fainting
- Excessive fatigue
- Heartburn
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Joint or muscle pain
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Change in the amount of urine
- Irregular heartbeat
- High potassium blood levels
- Unusual changes in the amount of urine
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
IROVEL 300 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
