What is Isaderm Gel?
Isaderm Gel is a topical skin treatment for dogs. It contains the active ingredients contains Fusidic Acid (an antibiotic) and Betamethasone (a corticosteroid). The gel is used to treat a variety of skin conditions in dogs inlcuding surface pyoderma, moist dermatitis (hot spots) and intertrigo (skin fold dermatitis).
How is Isaderm Gel used?
Isaderm Gel is a 15 grams tubs containing 5mg of fusiric acid and 1mg of betamethasone per gram of gel.
Apply Isaderm Gel in sufficient quantities and massage into the affected areas. Apply Isaderm Gel twice daily for 5 to 7 days.
Do not use Isaderm Gel for longer than week unless specifically advised by your vet. Improvement should be noticable in the first 3-4 days. If the conditon doesn't improve or the conditions worsens, speak to your vet about another course of treatment.
Adverse effects
Isaderm Gel does not usually cause side effects if used for a short period. Side effects become more prevalent with prolonged use.
During use, your dog may develop weakened resistance to other infections or thinning of the skin around the affected site.
Warnings
Isaderm Gel is a topical treatment. Do not allow your dog to ingest the gel.
Use Isaderm Gel for a short time (no longer than a weeek)and only use to treat conditions covering small surface areas.
Betamethasone can be absorbed through the skin when you are applying it to your dog. Try to wear gloves if possible. Adrenal function can be affected if this corticosteroid is absorbed through the skin. Make sure to wash you hands after applying Isaderm Gel.
Isaderm Gel is not suitable for use in pregnant bitches or in dogs with a fungal infection.
