What is KETOCHLOR?
Ketochlor containing the active ingredients ketoconazole and chlorhexidine is an antiseptic and cleansing shampoo that helps managing a variety of skin irritations. It is used to on cats, dogs and horses if they are suffering from bacterial or fungal infections of the skin. It operates by disrupting the cell walls of fungus and bacteria cells while preventing their reproduction to stop the spread of infection, allowing the immune system to destroy it.
How is KETOCHLOR used?
Ketochlor is usually applied topically 3 to 4 times per week or as directed by a doctor. To apply the medication, wet the hair coat with warm water and apply the shampoo. Massage shampoo into wet hair coat into a lather and allow it to remain in the hair for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse with clean water and repeat process if necessary. The shampoo is a long term treatment and may take several applications before the desired effects occur.
Adverse effects
Ketochlor is generally very well tolerated by pets with no side effects.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to the veterinarian if your pet suffers an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
KETOCHLOR is not always suitable for all animals. Always consult your veterinarian prior to using this medication if your pet is pregnant, breastfeeding, breeding, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if it has any allergies or other health problems.
