What is Levoquin-250?
Levoquin containing the active ingredient levofloxacin belongs to a type of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. The medication works by stopping the growth and killing bacteria that is causing an infection. It can be used to treat a variety of bacterial infections such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, sinusitis as well as urinary tract, kidney, prostate and skin infections. It can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
How is Levoquin-250 used?
Levoquin is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water throughout the treatment. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Always complete the prescribed cycle of treatment as abruptly discontinuing the medicine may cause the infection to return and the bacteria to become harder to treat.
