What is Lithicarb 400 FC?
Lithicarb works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain to maintain mental balance and reduce the intensity and frequency of mood swings. The active ingredient lithium carbonate belongs to the class of medications called antimanic agent or mood stabilizers. The medication is used to treat mania in patients diagnosed with manic depressive disorder (bipolar disorder). It can also help improve symptoms such as rushed speech, hyperactivity, a reduced need for sleep, poor judgment, anger and aggression or self harming behaviors.
How is Lithicarb 400 FC used?
Lithicarb should only be taken as directed by a doctor, usually 3 to 4 times per day. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water throughout the treatment. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the therapy. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed, chewed or broken to prevent too much of the drug from being released at once.
Adverse effects
Lithicarb may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Dry mouth
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Weight changes
- Loss of appetite
- Mild hand tremors
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Lithicarb 400 FC is not always suitable for all patients.
