What is Lithicarb 250 FC?
Lithicarb containing the active ingredient lithium is considered an antimanic agent or mood stabilizer type of medication. It works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain to maintain mental balance and reduce the intensity and frequency of mood swings. The medication is used to treat mania in people diagnosed with bipolar disorder (manic depressive disorder). It can also help improve symptoms such as hyperactivity, rushed speech, poor judgment, a reduced need for sleep, aggression and anger or self harming behaviors.
How is Lithicarb 250 FC used?
Lithicarb is usually taken orally 3 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not broken, chewed or crushed to prevent too much of the drug from being released at one time.
Adverse effects
Patients using Lithicarb may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Nausea
- Vomiting

Warnings
