What is Locoid Lipocream?
Locoid Lipocream is a corticosteroid cream prescribed to treat a wide variety of skin conditions. The medication works by preventing the release of certain substances in the body to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation. It is a very effective treatment for conditions such as eczema, rashes, itching or allergic reactions to jewelry, cosmetics, detergents, soaps, poison ivy and insect bites. Some patients may also use the cream to relieve discomfort of mouth sores, irritation and itching of the scalp and an itchy anal and rectal area.
How is Locoid Lipocream used?
Locoid Lipocream should be applied topically as directed by a doctor, usually 1 to 4 times per day. Before applying the cream, clean and dry your hands and the affected area thoroughly. Apply a small amount of the medication to the affected area and gently massage it into the skin. Do not wrap any dressing or bandages to the treated area unless specifically told to do so by a doctor. Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream unless the hands are the affected area. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy.
