What is MIGTOR 50?
Migtor containing the active ingredient miglitol is used along with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It works by delaying the absorption of carbohydrates to decrease blood sugar levels following meals. Treating high blood sugar levels will help prevent kidney damage, nerve problems, blindness, loss of limbs and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
How is MIGTOR 50 used?
Migtor is usually taken orally 3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken with the first bite of every meal along with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the treatment.
Adverse effects
Patients using Migtor may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
- Stomach pain
- Headaches
- Flatulence
- Dizziness

- Mental or mood changes
- Seizures
- Jaundice
- Blurred vision

Warnings
The medication should be taken to treat type 2 diabetes but should not be used to treat patients diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
