What is Melanorm-HC Cream?
Melanorm-HC Cream is a combination medication containing the active ingredients hydroquinone acetate and tretinoin and is considered a skin depigmenting agent. The medication works by inhibiting tyrosinase and other melanin forming enzymes from formation to decrease the amount of melanin in the skin. It can be used to lighten darkened skin areas to treat melasma, age spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation, chloasma and lentigo.
How is Melanorm-HC Cream used?
Melanorm-HC Cream should be applied topically only as directed by a doctor, usually 1 to 2 times daily. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Always wash and dry your hands and the affected area thoroughly before starting to apply the cream. Spread a thin layer of the medication to cover the entire affected area and gently massage it in. Wash your hands immediately after the treatment unless they are part of the treated area.
Adverse effects
Melanorm-HC Cream may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Dry or itchy skin
- Burning, stinging or redness at application site
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Apply a small amount of the cream to an area of unbroken skin and check the area within 24 hours for any serious side effects.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Melanorm-HC Cream is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
