What is Melgain Lotion?
Melgain Lotion containing the active ingredient decapeptide is derived from Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor and is used for the re-pigmentation of the skin. The lotion is used for the treatment of vitiligo, a condition where white patches develop on the skin due to the loss of the normal skin pigment, melanin. Clinical studies have shown the medication leads to re-pigmentation in 80% to 90% of patients and patients generally response faster to the medication when used in combination with other medical treatment options.
How is Melgain Lotion used?
Melgain Lotion should only be applied topically as directed by a doctor. It is recommended to apply the medication at night or at least 15 minutes prior to sunlight contact. Wash the hands and the affected area thoroughly prior to applying the medication. Rub a small amount of the lotion to the affected area and gently massage it in. Wash the hands immediately unless it is part of the treated area. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.
Adverse effects
Melgain Lotion is generally very well tolerated with no known side effects. Contact a doctor immediately should you suspect any side effects.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Melgain Lotion is not always suitable for all patients.
