What is Mignar-25?
Mignar containing the active ingredient miglitol is considered an oral antidiabetic drug type of medication. The medication delays the digestion of carbohydrates in the body to decrease the amount of sugar that passes into the blood after a meal. The tablets work by slowing the breakdown and absorption of table sugar and other complex sugars in the small intestine. It should be used to treat type 2 diabetes in people whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet alone.
How is Mignar-25 used?
Mignar is usually taken orally 3 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken with the first bite of every meal along with a drink of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The medication should be used as part of a treatment program including diet, exercise, weight control, blood sugar testing and special medical care in the treatment of diabetes.
Adverse effects
Patients using Mignar may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Upset stomach
- Stomach pain
- Headaches
- Excessive gas
- Vision problems
- Skin rash

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Mignar-25 is not always suitable for all patients.
