What is Mignar-50?
Mignar works by slowing the breakdown and absorption of table sugar and other complex sugars in the small intestine. The active ingredient miglitol is an antidiabetic type of drug that delays the digestion of carbohydrates in the body to decrease the amount of sugar that passes into the blood after a meal. The medication is usually used by people to treat type 2 diabetes when their condition cannot be controlled by diet alone.
How is Mignar-50 used?
Mignar should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually 3 times per day. Take the tablets along with the first bite of every main meal with a drink of water. Dosage and length of treatment will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy, contact a doctor for the correct dosage. The medication should be used as part of a treatment program including exercise, diet, weight control, blood sugar testing and special medical care in the treatment of diabetes.
Adverse effects
Mignar may cause unwanted side effects such as:

- Vision problems
- Excessive gas
- Headaches
- Stomach pain
- Upset stomach
- Diarrhea
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Mignar-50 is not always suitable for all patients.
