What is Minidiab?
Minidiab containing the active ingredient glipizide is considered a sulfonylureas type of medication. It helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating the cells in the pancreas and causing an increase in the production of insulin. Controlling blood sugar levels can help prevent kidney damage, vision problems, nerve problems, loss of limbs and sexual function problems. It is used along with a proper diet and regular exercise to treat patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Proper control of diabetes may also decrease the risk of a stroke or heart attacks.
How is Minidiab used?
Minidiab is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken at least 30 minutes before the first meal of the day along with some fluids. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. Do not discontinue the medication without contacting a doctor as high blood sugar levels usually shows no visible symptoms.
Adverse effects
Patients using Minidiab may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Signs of infection
- Jaundice
- Unusual weight gain

- Seizures
- Easy bruising or bleeding
- Dark urine
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Minidiab is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
