What is Mometamax Otic Suspension? Mometamax solution contains three different medicines - an antibiotic, a corticosteroid and an antifungal. Each gram of solution contains 3mg of Gentamicin sulfate, 1mg of Mometasone furoate and 10mg of Clotrimazole. Mometamax is indicated in the treatment of otitis externa in dogs. This in inflammation of the ear caused by yeast or bacteria.
How is Mometamax Otic Suspension used? Each bottle of Mometamax contains 30g of solution. Apply the liquid into the ear of the dog using the supplied dropper.
Adverse effects Mometamax is very well tolerated and side effects are rare. In some cases the dog may experience temporary loss of hearing or balance that will disappeaqr when treatment stops.
Warnings Corticosteroids have sometimes caused a cleft palate in newborns. Do not give Mometamax to pregnant dogs unless your vet is aware that they are pregnant and stil prescribe this medicine. Do not use in dogs who have ruptured ear drums as this can cause the infection to spread into the inner ear. Do not allow your dog to ingest this medicine.
