What is Montair?
Montair (Montelukast Sodium) is an oral leukotriene inhibitor prescribed to treat asthma, asthma caused by exercise, or to provide relief from the symptoms of hayfever. The medication works by preventing the release of chemicals caused by allergens to reduce inflammation of the airways allowing easier respiration and preventing asthma attacks from occurring. Note that this medication is only meant to be used as a preventative treatment and should not be used in the event of an emergency. Always keep an emergency inhaler on hand for such a case. Your physician may also prescribe the medicine to treat other conditions that are not listed here.
How is Montair used?
Montair should be taken orally once daily or as directed by a doctor. It is normally taken once each day, but your particular regimen will depend on your health condition and the severity of your symptoms. The chewable form of the tablets should be thoroughly chewed prior to swallowing them. If you are exercising during your treatment, you are recommended to administer your dose at least two hours before exercise. Adverse effects

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Montair is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
