Trivastal L.A. containing the active ingredient piribedil is considered an antiparkinson agent or dopamine agonist type of medication. Trental containing the active ingredient pentoxifylline is considered a hemorrheologic agent type of medication. The medication works by widening the blood vessels and thinning the blood to help improve blood flow and oxygen supply to the tissues and organs. It can be used to improve certain blood flow problems resulting from obstructed arteries in the limbs called intermittent claudication as well as vascular dementia.

Topirol works by reducing activity in the brain to maintain mental balance. It can be used alone or along with other medication to prevent and control epilepsy in people who have Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Some patients may also use it to prevent and decrease the frequency of migraine headaches.
