What is Nizoral?
Nizoral can be used to treat fungal infections such to the esophagus, throat, mouth, urinary tract, skin and nails. The active ingredient ketoconazole is considered an imidazoles type of antifungal antibiotic. The medication works by killing yeast and fungi by interfering with their cell membranes. It can be used to treat fungal infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
How is Nizoral used?
Nizoral should be taken orally exactly as directed by a doctor, usually once per day. The tablets should be taken with a meal along with a full glass of water to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication until the prescribed cycle is complete, even if symptoms disappear, as abruptly stopping the treatment can cause the infection to return and allow the fungi to become immune to the antibiotic.

- Breast enlargement in men
