The medication can be used alone or along with other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), which can help reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems. Some people may also use the drug to treat certain types of angina and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease.
How is Norvasc used?
Norvasc is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken along with a drink of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The doctor may start you on a lower dose and gradually increase the dosage for maximum effectiveness. The drug can be used to treat hypertension and angina but cannot be used to cure the conditions.
