What is Oflox?
Oflox works by preventing bacteria from reproducing or repairing themselves to kill the bacteria that are causing an infection. The active ingredient ofloxacin belongs to a class of medications called fluoroquinolones antibiotics. The medication can be used to treat certain types of bacterial infections such as gonorrhea, pneumonia, bronchitis as well as infections of the urinary tract, bladder, skin, reproductive organs and prostate. The tablets can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
How is Oflox used?
Oflox should only be used as directed by a doctor, usually twice daily. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken along with plenty of water throughout the treatment. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Continue with the medication until the prescribed dosage is finished, even if symptoms have disappeared, as abruptly stopping the treatment can cause the infection to return and allow the bacteria to become immune to the antibiotic.
