What is Olmecip?
Olmecip containing the active ingredient olmesartan medoxomil belongs to a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. The medication works by blocking the action of certain natural substances to relax blood vessels, allowing for easier blood flow and the heart to pump blood more efficiently. It is mainly prescribed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) which can help reduce the risks of heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems.
How is Olmecip used?
Olmecip is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a drink of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. If you are required to take any bile acid binding resins, it is recommended to take olmesartan at least 4 hours prior to taking them.
Adverse effects
Patients using Olmecip may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Decreased amount of urine
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Chest pain
- Diarrhea

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
