What is Olmo-40?
Olmo-40 containing the active ingredient olmesartan medoxomil is considered an angiotensin II receptor antagonist type of medication. The medication will allow for easier blood flow throughout the body by relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. It can be used either alone or combined with other medications to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lowering a patient’s high blood pressure reduces the associated risks of heart failure, heart attacks, strokes or kidney failure.
How is Olmo-40 used?
Olmo-40 is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a drink of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. For maximum effectiveness, the doctor may start you on a low dose and gradually increase your dosage if needed.
Adverse effects
Patients using Olmo-40 may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Fainting
- Irregular heartbeat
- Change in amount of urine
- Severe diarrhea
- Cold or flu like symptoms
- Disturbances of the gut
- Excessive fatigue
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing

Warnings
The medication should only be used by patients above 5 years of age.
