What is Onglyza?
Onglyza containing the active ingredient saxagliptin is considered an antidiabetic type of medication. It is used to treat patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It works by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the body after meals when blood sugar is high. Controlling high blood sugar levels can help prevent sexual function problems, loss of limbs, nerve problems, blindness and kidney damage. Proper control of diabetes may also decrease the risk of a stroke or heart attack.
How is Onglyza used?
Onglyza is usually taken once daily or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken before consuming food along with some fluids.
