What is Orcibest?
Orcibest containing the active ingredient orciprenaline is considered a beta 2 receptor agonist type of bronchodilator. The medication works by relaxing the muscles in the air passages in the lungs to allow for easier breathing. It can be used to treat and prevent wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing and chest tightness caused by asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and other lung diseases.
How is Orcibest used?
Orcibest is usually taken orally 3 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. If the patient uses other asthma drugs by mouth, ask a doctor how to take the medication with the other asthma medicines.
Adverse effects
Patients using Orcibest may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Headaches
- Irregular heartbeats
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Insomnia
- Tremors
- Nervousness
- Chest pain
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Orcibest is not always suitable for all patients.
