What is Ovestin Vaginal Cream?
Ovestin Vaginal cream containing the active ingredient oestriol is used in hormone replacement therapy for the main female sex hormone, oestrogen. It is used by older women as a supplement to replace the falling levels of oestrogen and help reduce the distressing symptoms of menopause. It is mainly used to prevent the vaginal wall from becoming thin and dry as well as before and after vaginal surgery to help promote wound healing.
How is Ovestin Vaginal Cream used?
Ovestin Vaginal Cream should be used once per day at bedtime or as directed by a doctor. To apply the cream, screw the applicator onto the tube and squeeze and fill the medication into the applicator up to the red ring mark. Lie down, put the end of the applicator deep into the vagina and slowly push the plunger all the way in. Each time after applying the cream, pull the plunger out of the barrel and wash both the plunger and barrel in hot, soapy water before rinsing with clean water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.
