What is PAW Denosyl? Denosyl (S-adenosylmethionine) is given to dogs and cats who are unable to produce sufficient quantities of it themselves. In healthy animals the liver forms S-adenosylmethionine from methione. In cases of liver damage or liver dysfunction, the animal may no longer be able to produce enough.
How is PAW Denosyl used? 225mg tablets are best suited to pets 6kg and over. The number of tablets taken in a single dose will depend on the weight of the pet. A lower 90mg dosage tablet is also available for smaller pets. Pets 6kg - 16kg will usually take one tablet every two to three days. Pets 16kg - 30kg will usually take two tablets every two-three days. For pets larger than this, check with your vet.
Give Denosyl tablets to your pet at least one hour before eating as this will improve the absorption rate. For cats, a small amount of water should be given with the tablets to avoid the tablet getting caught in the throat. Denosyl tablets should not be broken as the enteric coating prevents the breakdown of the tablet in the stomach.
