What is Panoramis?
Panoramis is a combination medication that offers 3 types of parasite protection. The monthly chewable tablets for dogs contain the active ingredients spinosad and milbemycin oxime. The medication can be used to prevent and treat flea infestations as well as control flea allergy dermatitis. The second benefit of the tablets is to treat and control intestinal parasites such as hookworms, whipworms and roundworms infections. The final usage is to prevent heartworm disease from threatening the health of dogs.
How is Panoramis used?
Panoramis should be given to the pet orally once per month unless otherwise directed by a veterinarian. The chewable tablets can be hidden in pet food for self consumption or hand fed to the dog just before a meal. Contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage as it will depend on the pet’s weight, condition and their response to the therapy. This particular packaging is recommended for administration in dogs between 18.2kg and 27kg. The tasty chewable tablets will ensure the medication will not rub or wash off and the pet can interact with others immediately after treatment.
Adverse effects
Panoramis may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Vomiting
- Lethargy
- Decreased appetite
- Diarrhea
- Itching
- Trembling
- Excess salivation
- Seizures
Contact a veterinarian immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
The medication should not be taken by puppies younger than 8 weeks of age. Puppies younger than 14 weeks of age may experience an increased rate of vomiting.
Immediately proceed to the veterinarian if your pet suffers an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Panoramis is not always suitable for all animals. Always consult your veterinarian prior to using this medication if your pet is pregnant, breastfeeding, breeding, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if it has any allergies or other health problems.
