What is Permite 5% Cream?
Permite 5% Cream containing the active ingredient permethrin is considered an insecticide type of medication. The medication works by paralyzing and killing mites, lice and their eggs. It is a safe form of treatment for scabies infestations in adults and children as young as 2 months old.
How is Permite 5% Cream used?
Permite 5% Cream should be applied topically in 1 or 2 treatments or as directed by a doctor. The cream should be applied to clean and dry skin from the head to the soles of the feet. Pay special attention to creases in the skin, hands, feet, between the fingers and toes, underarms and groin. The medication should be left on the skin for 8 to 14 hours before washing it off by taking a bath or shower. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the medication. If the conditions do not clear up within 14 days of applying the cream, use another application.
Adverse effects
Patients using Permite 5% Cream may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Itching, swelling or redness of skin
- Burning or stinging sensation
- Numbness or tingling at application site

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
