What is Pro-Banthine?
Pro-Banthine containing the active ingredient propantheline is considered an anticholinergics type of medication. The tablets are prescribed in the treatment of stomach ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by a H. pylori bacterial infection. Some patients will also use the drug to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), incontinence (involuntary urination) and gustatory sweating associated with conditions like diabetes.
How is Pro-Banthine used?
Pro-Banthine is usually taken orally 4 times per day unless otherwise directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken on an empty stomach 30 to 60 minutes before a meal and once at bedtime. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.
