What is Proin 75?
Proin 75 is a long term management for urinary incontinence in obese or older dogs as well as female dogs that were spayed at a very young age. The active ingredient phenylpropanolamine is an adrenergic agent type of medication that helps tighten the urethral sphincter to help control urine leakage. Pet owners will be able to tell if their dog needs medication to hold in urine if there appears a wet area on their bedding or a wet genital area. By controlling incontinence, it can help relieve associated odor and dermatitis from urine scalding in the genital area.
How is Proin 75 used?
Proin 75 should be given to the pet twice daily unless otherwise directed by a doctor. The liver flavored chewable tablets can be hand fed to the dog or placed in their food for self consumption. The recommended dosage for oral administration is 2mg/kg of body weight of the pet. Dosage and length of treatment will depend on the pet’s condition and their response to the therapy, contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage.
Adverse effects
Proin 75 may cause side effects such as:
- Irritability
- Vomiting
- High blood pressure
- Loss of appetite
- Irregular heart rate
- Diarrhea
- Behavioral changes
- Lethargy

Warnings
