What is Q300?
Q300 containing the active ingredient quinine sulphate is an antimalarial type of medication. The medication can be used alone or along with other medication to treat malaria. Malaria if left untreated is a serious or life threatening illness that spreads by mosquitoes in certain areas of the world. It works by killing the parasites passed into the body from the bites of infected mosquitoes. The tablets cannot be used to prevent malaria infections when going to areas where malaria is common. Some people may also use the medication to prevent or treat recurrent night time leg cramps caused by arthritis, diabetes or varicose veins.
How is Q300 used?
Q300 should be taken orally 3 to 4 times per day for 3 to 7 days or as directed by a doctor. To prevent an upset stomach the tablet should be taken with some food and plenty of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. Do not discontinue the medication without completing the prescription, even if you feel better, as prematurely stopping the medication can lead to the organisms becoming resistant to antimalarials.
