What is Reactin-50?
Reactin-50 is used to relieve tenderness, stiffness, pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis. The active ingredient diclofenac sodium is considered a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) type of medication. The drug works by preventing the production of certain natural substances that trigger pain and inflammation caused by an injury or certain diseases.
How is Reactin-50 used?
Reactin-50 tablets should be taken 2 to 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor. To prevent an upset stomach, the medication should be taken with some food or an antacid along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the medical condition of the patient and their response to the treatment. The tablets should be taken whole and not chewed, broken or crushed to prevent too much of the drug from being released at one time.
Adverse effects
Patients taking Reactin-50 may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Bloating or gas
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Upset stomach
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Vision problems
- Ringing in the ears
- Mental or mood changes
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Unexplained rapid weight gain
- Black, bloody or tarry stools
- Problems with balance
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Reactin-50 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
