What is Resteclin?
Resteclin containing the active ingredient tetracycline is considered a tetracycline antibiotic type of medication. The medication works by preventing the growth and spread of bacteria in the body to allow the immune system to kill off the bacteria. It can be used to treat respiratory tract infections, genital and urinary tract infections, skin infections and chest infections. Some patients may also use it to treat long term skin conditions such as acne.
How is Resteclin used?
Resteclin is usually taken orally 2 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour prior to or 2 hours following a meal along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. It is not recommended to consume dairy products while using the medication as they may make it harder for the body to absorb the drug.
Adverse effects
Patients using Resteclin may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Itching of the vagina or rectum
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Sunburn
- Vision problems
- Jaundice
- Change in the amount of urine
- New signs of infection
- Mental or mood changes
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Resteclin is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
