What is Resteclin?
Resteclin works by preventing the growth and spread of bacteria in the body to allow the immune system to kill off the bacteria. It belongs to a class of medications called tetracycline antibiotics. The medication can be used to treat chest infections, genital and urinary tract infections and respiratory tract infections. Some patients may also use it as a long term treatment for skin conditions such as acne.
How is Resteclin used?
Resteclin should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually 2 to 4 times per day. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours following or 1 hour prior to a meal along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct length of treatment and dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the treatment. It is not recommended to consume dairy products while using the medication as they may alter the body's ability to absorb the drug.
Adverse effects
Resteclin may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Itching of the vagina or rectum
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Upset stomach
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Nausea
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Mental or mood changes
- New signs of infection
- Change in the amount of urine
- Jaundice
- Vision problems
- Sunburn
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Resteclin is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
