What is Risperdal?
Risperdal with the active ingredient risperidone works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain. It is classified as an atypical antipsychotics type of medication. It can be used to treat irritability and aggression associated with autistic disorders in children between 5 to 16 years of age. Adults over 18 years of age can use the medication to treat certain mental or mood disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Some people may also use the medication in combination with other drugs to treat depression and Alzheimer’s dementia.
How is Risperdal used?

The doctor may prescribe a low initial dosage and gradually increase the dosage to reduce the risk of side effects. Do not discontinue the medication without contacting a doctor even if you feel well as the symptoms may return and cause the illness to be harder to treat.
