What is Rizact MD?
Rizact MD containing the active ingredient rizatriptan belongs to a class of medication called selective serotonin agonists. It is used to treat headache pain, sensitivity to light and sounds, vomiting and nausea caused by migraines. It works by decreasing the release of certain natural substances in the brain that cause migraine symptoms and narrowing blood vessels in the brain to stop pain signals from being sent to the brain. The tablets can be used to treat migraines but cannot be used to prevent or lessen the amount of future migraine attacks.
How is Rizact MD used?
Rizact MD should be used as soon as you notice migraine symptoms or after the attack has begun. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition, age and their response to the therapy. Should the migraine symptoms persist, a second dose may be taken at least 2 hours after the first dose. The recommended maximum dosage is 20mg every 24 hours.
