What is Rozex Gel?
Rozex Gel containing the active ingredient metronidazole is considered a nitroimidazole antibiotic type of medication. The medication is used to treat symptoms such as flushing, redness and small lumpy red spots on parts of the face caused by a chronic skin disorder called acne rosacea. It works by entering bacterial and protozoal cells to prevent them from growing and eventually killing the micro organisms, which will clear up the infection.
How is Rozex Gel used?
Rozex Gel should be applied topically 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the medication, wash and dry your hands and the affected area thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of the gel to the affected area and gently massage it into the skin. Do not allow the gel to get into the eyes or apply any moisturizer or cosmetics for at least 5 minutes after applying the gel. Continue to use the gel until the prescribed dose is complete, even if symptoms have cleared up, as abruptly stopping the treatment may allow the infection to return and cause the bacteria to become immune to antibiotics.
