What is Sebolytic?
Sebolytic is a topical medication prescribed to treat dogs or cats with greasy or scaly skin caused by a fungal infection. The shampoo is an antifungal medication that operates by disrupting the fungal cell walls and interfering with their reproduction to stop the spread of infection allowing the immune system to destroy it naturally. It is typically prescribed for long-term use and may take several administrations before the desired effects are observed. It may be used along with other treatments or for other unlisted conditions.
How is Sebolytic used?
Sebolytic should be used according to your veterinarian's instructions to get the safest and most effective results. It is applied twice each week while bathing your pet, but the best dosage for your dog or cat will be determined according to its current health condition, symptoms, and response to other treatments. To use the shampoo, wet the animal's hair, put a small amount of medication on its skin, create lather, and spread it evenly all over its body. Allow the medication to soak for ten minutes before rinsing it off so it can be absorbed into the skin. Be sure to keep the shampoo away from your pet's mucous membranes as this can cause complications. You are also recommended to administer the medication on a regular schedule to get the most efficient use by keeping a consistent level of medication on the skin at all times.
Adverse effects
When used correctly, Sebolytic will not cause any side effects in most animals. If you do observe any adverse symptoms affecting your pet, inform the veterinarian immediately so that the correct response can be taken. These may include reducing the application frequency of the shampoo or even emergency medical assistance in more serious cases. Commonly reported side effects that may occur include irritated, dry, flaking, or itchy skin.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to the veterinarian if your pet suffers an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
SEBOLYTIC is not always suitable for all animals.
