What is Seretide Diskus?
Seretide Diskus (Fluticasone Propionate/Salmeterol Xinafoate) is often administered for individuals with asthma to help reduce wheezing. It is also given to those with COPD and other lung disease where they may experience shortness of breath. There are two medications that it contains - Fluticasone which is a corticosteroid and Salmeterol which is a beta agonist. When someone can't get enough air they may suffer from anxiety, and by using this medication that can be reduced as well.
How is Seretide Diskus used?
Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their reaction to the medication. For patients preventing breathing problems caused by exercise, it should be taken at least 30 minutes before exercising and should not exceed one dose every 12 hours. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor as abruptly ending the treatment may lead to a worsening of symptoms.
Adverse effects
Patients using the Seretide Diskus may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Headache
- Congested nose
- Slight voice changes
- Soreness in the sinus
- Dryness affecting the throat or mouth
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Seretide Diskus is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
