What is Serobid Inhaler?
The Serobid Inhaler containing the active ingredient salmeterol is a long acting beta agonist (LABA) that can relax and open the air passages in the lungs to allow for easier breathing. It is used as a maintenance and preventative treatment for shortness of breath, chest tightness, coughing and wheezing caused by asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Some people may also use the inhaler to prevent bronchospasms caused by exercising.
How is Serobid Inhaler used?
The Serobid Inhaler should be used as directed by a doctor, usually twice daily in evenly spaced intervals 12 hours apart. Dosage will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication, contact a doctor for the correct dosage. It is recommended to use the inhaler at least 30 minutes prior to exercising to prevent bronchospasms. Patients using the medication before exercising should not exceed one dose every 12 hours. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping the treatment may lead to a worsening of symptoms.

Patients using the Serobid Inhaler may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Throat irritation
- Dry mouth or throat
- Coughing
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Irregular heartbeat
- Seizures
- Chest pain
- Tremors
- Worsening of symptoms
- Hoarseness
Warnings
The inhaler is used as a long term preventative treatment and should not be used to relieve acute asthma attacks.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Serobid Inhaler is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
