What is Skinoren Cream?
Skinoren Cream containing the active ingredient azelaic acid belongs to a class of medications called dicarboxylic acids. The medication works by killing bacteria that infect pores and decrease the production of keratin. It will help the skin exfoliate quickly to keep the pores of the skin open and unblocked which will decrease pimple and blackhead formation. The cream is mainly used in the treatment of acne and to clear bumps, lesions and swelling caused by rosacea.
How is Skinoren Cream used?
Skinoren Cream is usually applied topically twice daily, once in the morning and once at night unless otherwise directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the medication, wash and dry your hands and the affected area thoroughly with a mild soap or soap less cleansing lotion. Spread a thin layer of the cream to the affected area and gently rub it in until it disappears. Do not place any bandages or cover over the cream unless your health care professional advises you to do so.
Adverse effects
Patients using Skinoren Cream may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Stinging, burning, itching or tingling at application site
- Dry or peeling skin
- Photosensitivity
- Skin discoloration

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
