What is Soloxine?
Soloxine containing the active ingredient levothyroxine is a hormone replacement therapy for dogs. It is an effective and proven medication used to regulate and treat all conditions caused by hypothyroidism such as lethargy, inactivity, weight gain, weakness, anemia, hyperlipidemia and endocrine alopecia. The tablets work by stimulating metabolism, growth, development and differentiation of tissues.
How is Soloxine used?
Soloxine is usually given to the pet 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a veterinarian. The tablets can be administered orally or given in your pet's food. Contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage as it will depend on the pet's weight, condition and their response to the therapy. The recommended usual dose is 0.1mg per every 10lbs of bodyweight of the pet. Your veterinarian may request frequent checkups as dosage may need to be adjusted every 4 weeks until an adequate maintenance dose is established.
