What is Span K?
Span K is a sustained release potassium chloride supplement used to treat hypokalemia. Low potassium levels can arise when the body loses excessive amounts of potassium due to prolonged diarrhea or vomiting, hyperaldosteronism or as a result of taking certain medication. A regular level of potassium is essential to keep the cells, kidneys, heart, muscles and nerves functioning normally.
How is Span K used?
Span K is usually taken orally 1 to 3 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken with a meal along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the treatment. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not broken, crushed or chewed as it would damage the modified release action.

Patients using Span K may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Upset stomach
