What is Tenovate Ointment?
Tenovate Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) is a topical corticosteroid type of medication. It works by reducing the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, redness and itching. The cream can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, allergies, rash and psoriasis.
How is Tenovate Ointment used?
Tenovate Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) should be applied topically 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Wash your hands and the affected area thoroughly with soap and water before applying the cream. To apply the medication, rub a thin film of the medication on the affected area and gently massage. Try to not cover, bandage or wrap the area unless directed to do so by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy.
Adverse effects
Tenovate Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Burning, stinging, itching, dryness or redness at application site
- Discoloration of skin
- Stretch marks
- Thinning of the skin
- Excessive hair growth
- Weight loss
- Headaches
- Vision problems

Warnings
Do not use the medication on the face, groin or underarms unless directed to do so by a doctor.
